MCD launches property tax amnesty scheme for overdue dues in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has unveiled a property tax amnesty scheme that allows owners to clear old dues, aiming to reduce the backlog of unpaid taxes.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced today a new property tax amnesty scheme designed to enable property owners to settle outstanding dues. The scheme is intended to clear the accumulated backlog of unpaid property taxes across the capital.
Under the amnesty, owners can pay their old property tax liabilities without facing the usual penalties and interest that accrue on delayed payments. The initiative seeks to encourage compliance and improve municipal revenue collection.
MCD officials indicated that the scheme will be open for a limited period, after which normal tax rules will resume. Property owners are advised to approach their local ward offices or use the corporation’s online portal to avail the amnesty.
The corporation hopes that the measure will not only boost its finances but also bring more properties into the tax net, supporting better civic services for Delhi residents.
