Police busted a multi‑state counterfeit liquor network near the Odisha‑Jharkhand border and apprehended its alleged mastermind, officials said.
Police teams from Odisha and Jharkhand conducted a coordinated raid on a suspected counterfeit liquor operation situated close to the inter‑state border. The operation resulted in the seizure of large quantities of illicit alcohol, along with equipment used for large‑scale production and distribution.
Investigators identified the ringleader of the syndicate, who is believed to have orchestrated the network across several states. The mastermind was taken into custody during the raid and is being interrogated for further leads on other members and distribution channels.
Authorities said the bust underscores a growing concern over fake alcohol that poses serious health risks. The seized stock will be destroyed, and the case will be forwarded to the district court for trial under relevant narcotics and public safety statutes.
The police continue to monitor related supply chains and have urged the public to report any suspicious liquor sales, especially in border regions where illegal trade often flourishes.
