Manipur security forces detained a United Kuki National Army member and recovered a stock of firearms and ammunition, officials said.
Manipur police announced the arrest of a militant linked to the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) during a routine security operation in the state. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to officials.
During the same operation, security personnel uncovered a cache of small arms, including rifles and pistols, along with a substantial quantity of ammunition. The seized weapons are expected to be catalogued and added to evidence for ongoing investigations.
Police spokesperson said the arrest is part of a broader effort to dismantle insurgent networks operating in the region. Authorities have intensified surveillance and raids in recent months to curb militant activities that threaten public safety.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Manipur, where ethnic insurgencies have periodically flared. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and preventing the flow of illegal arms in the state.
