The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has publicly called for the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact and the disarmament of Kuki armed groups operating in the state. The party argues that the continued existence of the SoO agreement undermines peace efforts and that armed groups must lay down their weapons to restore normalcy.
MPP urged both the state and central governments to take immediate steps to cancel the pact and initiate a structured disarmament process. It emphasized that security, development and the well-being of Manipur’s people depend on such decisive action.
The demand comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with the party insisting that only through the removal of the SoO framework and the surrender of arms by Kuki militants can lasting stability be achieved.
