The Governor of Manipur has called for intensified tuberculosis screening in the state’s hard‑to‑reach regions, stressing the need for stronger detection mechanisms.

Manipur’s Governor addressed the pressing need to boost tuberculosis (TB) detection in the state’s remote and difficult‑to‑reach districts, highlighting that current screening levels are insufficient to curb the disease’s spread. He noted that many villages lack basic health infrastructure, making early diagnosis a challenge.

The governor urged the state health department and local authorities to deploy mobile testing units, strengthen community health worker networks, and ensure regular sputum‑sample collection in hard‑to‑access areas. He emphasized that timely detection is crucial to prevent drug‑resistant TB and reduce mortality.

In response, the Manipur Health Services announced plans to allocate additional resources for mobile labs and training of frontline workers, aiming to expand coverage in the upcoming quarter. The governor’s appeal underscores the government’s commitment to meeting national TB elimination targets in even the most isolated regions.
