The state government issued a clarification on the extent and details of the road project proposal announced earlier, addressing public queries.
Imphal — The Manipur government released an official statement today clarifying the scope of a recently announced road construction proposal. The clarification outlines the specific stretches of highway to be upgraded, the estimated length of new alignments, and the intended phases of implementation. Officials emphasized that the project will focus on improving connectivity between Imphal and surrounding districts, without extending to other regions at this stage.
The statement also addressed concerns raised by local stakeholders regarding land acquisition and environmental impact. The government assured that land will be acquired only on a voluntary basis where possible and that a detailed environmental assessment will be conducted before any ground work begins.
According to the release, funding for the project will come from a combination of state budget allocations and central assistance under the National Highway Development Programme. The clarified timeline projects the first phase to commence by the end of the fiscal year, with completion targeted within three years.
The clarification aims to provide transparency and reduce speculation surrounding the proposal, officials said, and they invited further public feedback through designated grievance cells.
