Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen said the state government will provide aid to villages along the IT Road that have suffered from recent ethnic clashes.

Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen announced on Tuesday that the state will dispatch relief assistance to villages situated on the Imphal‑Tamenglong (IT) Road that have been caught in the recent ethnic violence. The announcement comes after reports of displacement, property damage and shortages of essential supplies in several hamlets along the corridor.
The relief package includes food grains, cooking oil, cash assistance and medical kits, which will be distributed through local panchayats and community volunteers. Officials said the supplies will reach the affected villages within the next 48 hours, prioritising those with the highest number of displaced families.
Kipgen emphasized that the government is monitoring the security situation closely and will continue to coordinate with security forces to ensure safe delivery of aid. She urged residents to cooperate with authorities and refrain from actions that could further inflame tensions.
The move is part of a broader effort by the Manipur administration to stabilise the region after weeks of sporadic clashes that have disrupted daily life and hindered economic activity in the state’s interior districts.
