Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh handed out benefits worth more than ₹2 crore to workers holding labour cards, as part of the state’s welfare rollout.

Manipur’s chief minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, oversaw the distribution of benefits exceeding ₹2 crore to individuals possessing labour cards. The disbursement took place across several districts, reaching thousands of eligible workers.

The labour card scheme, launched by the state government, aims to provide financial assistance and social security to informal sector employees who lack formal employment contracts. Under the program, cardholders receive cash benefits, health coverage and skill‑development subsidies.

Officials said the current tranche of funds will help alleviate immediate economic pressures for many families while reinforcing the government’s broader commitment to inclusive growth. The chief minister highlighted that such targeted interventions are essential for sustaining livelihoods in the state’s rural and urban pockets.

The distribution was conducted in a transparent manner, with verification teams confirming the eligibility of each cardholder before payments were released. State authorities plan to continue the rollout in subsequent phases, extending support to additional beneficiaries as the scheme matures.
