The Abkari department in Mandla’s Anjaniya village seized 80 litres of raw liquor and destroyed more than 4,000 kg of mahua brew valued at over ₹4.13 million, filing three cases against the alleged perpetrators who remain at large.
Mandla district’s Abkari officials carried out a raid in the village of Anjaniya, located in the Mandla‑Tola hamlet, after receiving intelligence about illegal liquor production. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 80 litres of raw, unaged spirit and the destruction of approximately 4,000 kilograms of mahua‑based brew, commonly known as mahua lahan.
The seized liquor and destroyed brew are estimated to be worth more than ₹4.13 million. The department recorded three separate cases under the state's excise laws, citing violations related to the manufacture, storage, and sale of unlicensed alcoholic beverages.
All individuals suspected of overseeing the illicit operation have fled the scene, and their whereabouts remain unknown. Local law‑enforcement agencies are now conducting a manhunt and have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.
