A man who saw the film Drishyam 3 in Surat drove over 2,000 kilometres to Bihar, where he fatally stabbed his father, police said.
Surat police reported that a man, after watching the movie Drishyam 3 at a local theatre, embarked on a journey of roughly 2,000 kilometres to Bihar. Upon reaching the state, he allegedly attacked and killed his own father, an act that has shocked both communities.
Investigators from the Bihar Crime Branch have taken the suspect into custody and are probing the motive behind the murder. While the link between the film’s plot and the crime remains unclear, officials said they are examining whether the movie influenced the perpetrator’s state of mind.
The father’s identity and the exact location of the incident have not been disclosed pending further investigation. The accused faces charges of murder under the Indian Penal Code, and legal proceedings are expected to commence shortly after a formal charge sheet is filed.
