Man kills spouse with stone over character doubts in Sehore, MP

Police in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, arrested Vinod Barela after he allegedly bludgeoned his spouse, Mukesh “Pappu” Barela, to death with a stone near the Ambur River.
Sehore district’s Bhairunda police station area became the scene of a gruesome homicide on Saturday when a body covered in blood was found near the banks of the Ambur River. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Mukesh “Pappu” Barela. Investigators say the victim’s spouse, Vinod Barela, allegedly struck the victim on the head with a large stone, claiming suspicion over the victim’s character as the motive.
The forensic team confirmed that the injuries were consistent with blunt‑force trauma caused by a stone. After the body was recovered, local police launched a rapid investigation, interviewing neighbours and reviewing CCTV footage from nearby lanes.
Within twelve hours of the incident, Vinod Barela was apprehended at his residence and taken into custody. He has been charged under sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to murder and assault. The case is now being forwarded to the district court for further legal proceedings.
