Vinod Kumar of Hanumangarh was scammed of ₹3.4 lakh after being promised a two‑year work visa for Russia; he received only a 16‑day e‑visa and lodged a complaint with police.

Hanumangarh resident Vinod Kumar approached a middle‑man who claimed to secure him a well‑paid job in Russia and promised a two‑year work visa. The intermediary collected ₹3.40 lakh from Kumar as processing and placement fees.

After the payment, Kumar was issued only a 16‑day electronic visa, far short of the promised employment visa. The short‑term visa does not permit him to work in Russia, leaving him stranded and financially harmed.

Kumar reported the matter to the Rajasthan police, who have opened an investigation into the alleged fraud. Authorities are tracing the contact details of the fraudster and have warned the public about similar job‑placement scams that exploit aspirants seeking overseas employment.

The case underscores a growing trend of fake overseas‑job offers targeting residents of smaller towns, prompting officials to advise job seekers to verify credentials through official embassy channels and avoid upfront payments to unverified agents.
