Students protesting the alleged Maharashtra Public Service Commission exam paper leak have halted their sit-in after the state government announced the formation of a probe panel.
Students from various coaching centres gathered outside the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) office on Monday, demanding a fresh examination after alleging that the answer key of the recent civil services exam had been leaked. The protest, which involved a sit‑in and a demand for accountability, drew media attention across the state.
In response, the Maharashtra government issued a statement saying it had constituted a high‑level committee comprising senior officials and retired bureaucrats to investigate the leak. The panel is tasked with tracing the source of the breach, reviewing the examination process, and recommending corrective measures.
Following the announcement, student representatives announced the suspension of their protest, stating that the formation of the panel addressed their immediate demand for an inquiry. They urged the committee to act swiftly and promised to resume dialogue if the investigation does not yield satisfactory results.
The alleged leak has sparked concerns about the integrity of competitive examinations in the state, prompting calls for stricter security protocols in future tests.
