The state government has given Satish Waghole additional charge as chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission while a probe into alleged examination paper leaks is underway.

Mumbai, Oct 17 (Mid-Day) – The Maharashtra government has assigned Satish Waghole the additional charge of chairman of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The decision comes as the commission is under scrutiny following allegations of a leak of examination papers.

Waghole, a senior bureaucrat who currently serves as the principal secretary to the chief minister, will oversee the commission’s functioning until a permanent appointment is made. The move is intended to ensure continuity of the commission’s operations while the ongoing investigation examines the source of the alleged leak.

Sources in the state administration said the probe was launched after a complaint was filed by candidates who claimed they had accessed question papers ahead of the scheduled exams. No official findings have been released yet, and the commission has pledged full cooperation with the inquiry.

The chief minister’s office issued a brief statement confirming the appointment and emphasizing that the integrity of the state’s recruitment process remains a top priority. No further comments were provided by the opposition or the candidates’ groups.
