The Chandrapur forest department has built a new animal enclosure, marking the state's inaugural experiment with such a facility.
The forest department in Chandrapur has completed construction of a newly designed wildlife cage. Officials say the structure is intended to improve the handling and temporary housing of rescued or stray animals, providing a safer environment for both the creatures and the public.
According to the department, this is the first time Maharashtra has introduced such a cage as part of its wildlife management strategy. The initiative aims to set a benchmark for future enclosures across the state, focusing on better ventilation, durability, and ease of cleaning.
Local authorities plan to monitor the cage's performance over the coming months and assess its suitability for broader deployment in other forest ranges. The project reflects a growing emphasis on modernizing wildlife care infrastructure in the region.
