The Madhya Pradesh government has increased the monthly stipend for junior doctors by 4.46%, with first‑year postgraduate trainees slated to receive a retroactive payment of ₹81,126 from April 1.

The state of Madhya Pradesh announced a 4.46% rise in the monthly stipend allotted to junior doctors serving in government hospitals. The increase is part of the latest revision of pay scales for medical trainees under the state health department.

First‑year postgraduate (PG) students will receive a backdated amount of ₹81,126, calculated from April 1, 2024. The retroactive payment will be added to the upcoming payroll cycle, ensuring that the beneficiaries receive the full adjusted amount for the period elapsed.

The adjustment will take effect immediately for all eligible junior doctors, and the additional funds are expected to be reflected in their next salary statements. The move aims to address the financial concerns of medical trainees and bring their remuneration in line with recent cost‑of‑living considerations.
