Madhya Pradesh private hospitals threaten Ayushman Bharat boycott from Oct 8 over dues

Private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh have announced a possible boycott of the Ayushman Bharat scheme starting October 8, citing unpaid government dues, claim deductions and the newly imposed NABH accreditation requirement.

Private hospital associations in Madhya Pradesh issued a notice that, from October 8, they may cease providing services under the central Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) unless outstanding payments are settled.
The hospitals contend that the state health department has delayed reimbursements for services rendered to scheme beneficiaries, and recent policy changes have introduced claim deductions while making NABH accreditation mandatory for participating facilities.
They warned that such a boycott would affect thousands of low‑income patients who depend on the scheme for free tertiary care, and have called for a meeting with the health ministry to resolve the financial dispute.
Health officials have not commented publicly yet, but sources say discussions are underway to address the hospitals' concerns.
