The monsoon has intensified in Madhya Pradesh, prompting the state government to issue a high alert for nine districts after the weather department warned of very heavy rainfall.
The monsoon trough over central India has become active again, bringing a spell of very heavy rain to nine districts of Madhya Pradesh, according to the India Meteorological Department. Following the department's alert, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed district collectors, instructing them to remain on high alert and to ensure that relief and rescue operations are pre‑positioned.
Collectors have been asked to mobilise emergency teams, pre‑stage essential supplies, and coordinate with local police and disaster response units. The state government emphasized that preparedness measures should be in place before the rains intensify further.
Meteorologists warned that the heavy downpours could lead to flash floods and waterlogging in low‑lying areas, urging residents to stay informed and heed any local advisories. The alert underscores the government's proactive stance in mitigating potential damage as the monsoon season progresses.
