Madhya Pradesh has rolled out a new fire safety code that applies to both festival pandals and high‑rise buildings, with enforcement measures that could include cutting off electricity for non‑compliant sites.
Madhya Pradesh has introduced a comprehensive fire safety code that extends to both temporary festival structures and permanent high‑rise buildings. The new regulations set out detailed requirements for fire exits, alarm systems, and emergency lighting.
The code applies to pandals erected for festivals and fairs, as well as to residential and commercial high‑rises across the state. Owners and operators are now required to obtain fire safety certificates before the use of these premises.
Enforcement provisions state that failure to comply with the stipulated standards may lead to severe penalties, including the suspension of electricity supply to the affected site. The government has warned that non‑compliance will not be tolerated.
Officials say the move aims to improve safety standards and reduce the risk of fire incidents in both temporary and permanent structures, protecting lives and property throughout the state.
