The CM of Madhya Pradesh has directed district collectors to reopen all closed bus depots and stands, and to review routes across districts, aiming to operate 14,981 buses by 2031.
The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, has issued a directive to all district collectors to reopen bus depots and bus stands that have been closed for an extended period. The move is part of a broader effort to improve public transport connectivity across the state.
Under the new instructions, each district will conduct a comprehensive review of its bus routes. The aim is to streamline services, reduce redundancies, and ensure that routes meet current passenger demand.
The state government has set a target of operating 14,981 buses by the year 2031. Reopening depots and optimizing routes are seen as critical steps toward achieving this goal.
Officials say the changes will be implemented in phases, with immediate reopening of key depots in major districts and a gradual rollout of route adjustments over the coming months.
