Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav visits Balaghat, pledges Rs 2 lakh to families of children who died from unknown illness

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav toured the tribal villages of Birsa block in Balaghat after a mysterious disease claimed several children’s lives and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh per affected family.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav arrived in Balaghat’s Birsa block on Thursday to assess the impact of a sudden, unexplained illness that has reportedly caused the deaths of several children in tribal hamlets. During his visit, he met with local officials, health workers and grieving families to gather first‑hand information about the outbreak.
The CM announced that each family that lost a child will receive a cash assistance of Rs 2 lakh, a measure aimed at providing immediate financial relief to the bereaved households. He also directed the state health department to expedite a thorough investigation into the cause of the disease and to ensure that medical aid reaches the affected villages without delay.
State authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of fatalities or identified the pathogen behind the illness. However, they have pledged to set up a special task force, involving epidemiologists and tribal welfare officers, to monitor the situation and prevent further casualties.
