On Balram Jayanti, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a scheme to provide farmers with ten hours of electricity each day, marking the start of the 2026 Farmer Welfare Year in Madhya Pradesh.
Gwalior, Sept 2 (ANI) – Chief Minister Mohan Yadav marked Balram Jayanti by unveiling a new farmer‑focused initiative. The state government will ensure that agricultural consumers receive a guaranteed ten hours of electricity each day, a move aimed at boosting irrigation and productivity.
The announcement comes as Madhya Pradesh designates 2026 as "Balram Year" for farmer welfare. Under this banner, the agriculture department, together with scientific experts, will roll out a series of programmes across the state, ranging from soil health workshops to modern irrigation demonstrations.
Officials said the power supply scheme will be coordinated with regional electricity boards to minimise disruptions and prioritize farming zones during peak demand periods. The government hopes the extended power window will reduce dependence on diesel pumps and lower cultivation costs for small and marginal farmers.
The CM urged farmers to participate in the upcoming outreach events and assured that the state will monitor implementation closely to address any operational challenges.
If successful, the initiative could serve as a model for other Indian states seeking to combine energy security with agricultural development.
