Madhubani Police Seize 102 kg Cannabis, Arrest Smuggler Worth ₹5.1 million

During a raid in Madhwapur area of Madhubani district, police recovered 102 kg of cannabis and arrested Baspotti resident Binod Kumar Yadav, alleged to be involved in a ₹5.1 million drug haul.
Madhubani police launched an operation in the Madhwapur police station jurisdiction on Tuesday, targeting a suspected drug trafficking network. Officers intercepted a vehicle carrying a large consignment of cannabis, seizing approximately 102 kilograms of the narcotic.
The seized cannabis has been preliminarily valued at around ₹5.1 million. During the same operation, Binod Kumar Yadav, a resident of Baspotti village, was taken into custody on charges of possession and trafficking of the controlled substance.
Police officials stated that the suspect attempted to flee when he noticed the police presence, but was apprehended after a brief chase. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities searching for additional accomplices linked to the haul.
The seized material has been handed over to the forensic laboratory for further analysis, and the case will be forwarded to the district court for prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
