A resident of Ludhiana was swindled of Rs 2.85 lakh after being promised a loan, prompting a police investigation.
Local media reports indicate that a resident of Ludhiana fell victim to a fraud in which the perpetrator claimed to provide a loan and collected Rs 2.85 lakh in cash. The victim, who wishes to remain unnamed, approached the alleged lender with the expectation of receiving financial assistance, but the promised loan never materialised.
According to the complaint lodged with the police, the fraudster used documents and verbal assurances that mimicked legitimate loan procedures, creating a convincing façade that led the victim to hand over the money. The amount, equivalent to approximately USD 3,400, was handed over in a single transaction.
Ludhiana police have opened an investigation into the case, registering a formal FIR and seeking to trace the individuals involved. Officers have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the suspects and recover the stolen funds.
