Punjab police recovered nearly 3.7 kg of heroin from the bag of an injured person who arrived at a Ludhiana hospital by ambulance, and have registered a case.

An injured individual was transported to a Ludhiana hospital by ambulance when police officials inspected the personal belongings accompanying the patient. During the search, officers discovered a sealed bag containing 3.697 kilograms of heroin.

The seized narcotic was immediately handed over to the forensic laboratory for verification, and a formal case was lodged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigators have opened a probe to trace the source of the drug shipment and to identify any accomplices.

The incident adds to a series of drug‑related seizures reported in Punjab in recent months, underscoring the ongoing challenge faced by law‑enforcement agencies in curbing illicit narcotics trafficking across the state.
