Police in Ludhiana conducted a drug‑free drive that resulted in the arrest of 19 individuals suspected of narcotics offences.
Ludhiana police launched a focused anti‑narcotics operation across the city, targeting individuals involved in the illegal drug trade. The raid culminated in the detention of 19 suspects, who are now in police custody pending further investigation.
Authorities said the operation was part of a broader effort to curb the circulation of narcotics in Punjab's industrial hub. While specific details about the seized substances were not disclosed, officials emphasized that the arrests send a strong deterrent message to drug traffickers.
The police have not released the names or ages of those arrested, nor have they provided a timeline for court proceedings. The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and will continue to monitor drug‑related activities in the region.
Local residents expressed relief at the swift action, noting that drug abuse has been a growing concern in the city. The police urged the public to cooperate with any ongoing investigations and report suspicious activities.
The operation aligns with state‑wide initiatives aimed at eradicating drug networks and safeguarding community health.
