Meteorological agencies have identified a fresh low‑pressure area developing in the Bay of Bengal, prompting heightened warnings for India's eastern coastline.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that a new low‑pressure system has begun to organize over the Bay of Bengal. Satellite imagery shows a well‑defined circulation that could deepen over the next 48 hours.
Forecasters have issued a coastal warning for the eastern seaboard, covering Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Residents are advised to stay alert for sudden squalls, heavy rainfall and gusty winds that may affect coastal districts.
The IMD has also cautioned fishermen to avoid venturing into the open sea until the system weakens. Authorities will continue to monitor the disturbance and update advisories as its intensity evolves.
