Long weekend traffic snarls Himachal and Uttarakhand roads, causing hours‑long jams

The extended holiday weekend has turned key routes in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand into bottlenecks, with vehicles moving at a crawl. Motorists report waiting for several hours on stretches that are usually clear during weekdays. The surge in private and commercial traffic reflects the seasonal travel pattern as families and tourists move across the Himalayan region. Authorities have advised travelers to plan alternate routes or postpone non‑essential trips until the rush eases. The prolonged standstill underscores the need for better traffic management during peak holiday periods.
