A shooting in Lonavala, initially ruled accidental, has sparked a murder investigation after authorities questioned the firing distance.
The incident occurred in the hill station of Lonavala, where a firearm discharged unexpectedly, killing a person on the spot.
Police initially treated the event as an accidental shooting, but a subsequent review of the scene raised doubts about the distance from which the weapon was fired.
The investigation team noted that the firing range was inconsistent with an accidental discharge, prompting a formal inquiry into potential foul play.
As a result, the case has been reclassified as a murder investigation, and the suspect is now being held for questioning under the Indian Penal Code.
The authorities have requested the public to come forward with any information that could clarify the circumstances of the incident.
