The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta conducted a raid on the residence of Commercial Tax Officer Manish Kumar Jain in Jabalpur after a complaint alleging his assets are 2.64 times his declared income.
Lokayukta officials in Madhya Pradesh entered the home of Commercial Tax Officer Manish Kumar Jain in Jabalpur following a formal complaint that his total assets far exceed his reported earnings. The raid was carried out under the authority’s mandate to investigate cases of disproportionate wealth among public servants.
Jain, who is posted as a commercial tax officer in Jabalpur, is alleged to hold property and financial holdings amounting to 2.64 times his declared annual income. Investigators inspected several premises, ranging from his Jabalpur residence to additional properties linked to him in Bhopal, and seized documents and financial records for further scrutiny.
The Lokayukta’s office released a brief statement confirming that the operation was part of an ongoing probe into alleged corruption and that the officer was escorted out while cooperating with the team. No official comment has been received from Jain or his department at this stage.
The action underscores the anti-corruption drive in the state, where the Lokayukta has previously taken action against officials suspected of amassing wealth beyond their lawful means.
