From today, the sale and consumption of alcohol is prohibited in 19 designated religious locations across Madhya Pradesh, as per the latest enforcement order.
The Madhya Pradesh authorities have issued an order that bans the sale and consumption of liquor in nineteen religious places across the state, effective from today. The directive applies uniformly to all identified temples, mosques, churches and other places of worship that were listed in the official notice.
The enforcement will be carried out by local police and revenue officials, who have been instructed to monitor premises surrounding the affected sites. Any outlet found violating the ban will be subject to the penalties prescribed under the state's liquor laws.
State officials said the measure aims to uphold the sanctity of religious venues and prevent any disturbance to devotees. The ban will remain in force until further notice, and the list of locations will be made publicly available through government channels.
