Lokayukta police in Indore detained a line worker in Badnawar, Dhar, after catching him accepting a ₹4,000 bribe for a permanent electricity connection, having previously extorted a larger sum.
Indore‑based Lokayukta police arrested a line man in Badnawar, a town in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, on charges of demanding money to regularise a permanent electricity connection. The suspect was caught red‑handed while accepting a cash payment of ₹4,000 from a resident seeking the connection.
According to the police report, the line worker had previously extracted a substantially larger amount from another consumer for the same service, indicating a pattern of extortion. The recent seizure of ₹4,000 was the trigger for the operation that led to his apprehension.
Authorities said the arrest is part of a broader crackdown on corruption in the electricity supply chain. The case will be forwarded to the district court for further legal action, and the police have warned that similar offenses will be pursued vigorously.
