LG Sinha urges corporates to boost Jammu & Kashmir's sports ecosystem

Former BCCI chief LG Sinha addressed a gathering in Jammu and Kashmir, stressing the urgent need for a robust sports infrastructure in the region. He pointed out that inadequate facilities, coaching and funding have left the area's athletic potential largely untapped, and called for a coordinated ecosystem involving schools, academies and government bodies.

Sinha appealed directly to corporate houses, suggesting that strategic investments and sponsorships could accelerate talent identification and nurture athletes capable of competing nationally and internationally. He urged the state administration to create incentives for private participation and to streamline policies, aiming to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a hub for sports excellence.

The former administrator emphasized that a collaborative approach between the public and private sectors is essential to build world‑class training centres, provide modern equipment and ensure sustainable funding for grassroots programs.

By fostering such an ecosystem, Sinha believes the region can produce elite sportspersons and boost its presence on the national and global stage.
