Sikkim’s Laxuman Adhikari clinched the state’s first medal at the North East Zonal Shooting Championship held in the northeastern region of India. The 10‑meter air pistol event saw Adhikari score a commendable 594 points, securing the bronze medal and bringing pride to the small Himalayan state.
The championship, organised by the National Rifle Association of India, attracted shooters from across the northeast. Adhikari’s performance marked the first time a Sikkimese athlete has reached the podium in this zonal competition.
