Heavy landslides in West Sikkim have destroyed about 30 homes and cut off several road links, prompting rescue teams to intervene.
Heavy rain triggered landslides across the western part of Sikkim on Tuesday, causing widespread disruption in the hilly terrain. The slides swept down slopes, crushing rooftops and rendering around 30 houses partially or fully damaged.
Local authorities reported that the landslides blocked key mountain roads, isolating several villages and hampering the movement of emergency vehicles. Rescue teams from the district administration, along with the state disaster response force, were dispatched to clear debris and evacuate residents where needed.
