KL Rahul to feature for Karnataka in Ranji Trophy clash against Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada
KL Rahul will join Karnataka's side from Oct 11 for the Ranji Trophy match against Andhra Pradesh in Vijayawada, following a BCCI directive that test players must play red‑ball cricket.
KL Rahul has been cleared to play for Karnataka in the upcoming Ranji Trophy fixture against Andhra Pradesh. The decision comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a directive that all test‑level players must participate in red‑ball cricket.
The match is scheduled to begin on October 11 at the Vijayawada stadium, pitting Karnataka against the host side, Andhra Pradesh. Rahul’s inclusion is expected to strengthen Karnataka’s batting line‑up.
R. Smaran will lead the Karnataka team as captain for the encounter. The side will aim to capitalize on Rahul’s experience and the home advantage of the Andhra team.
The BCCI’s policy aims to ensure that top‑level players maintain form in the longer format of the game, reinforcing the importance of the Ranji Trophy in the domestic calendar.
