The Khadi and Village Industries Commission has launched a scheme offering special financial assistance and skill development programmes to encourage youth to join the traditional tailoring sector.

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (Khadi Gramodyog) has unveiled a new scheme aimed at encouraging young people to enter the tailoring industry. The initiative combines skill‑training programmes with a special financial incentive to attract youth to the traditional handloom and tailoring crafts.

Under the scheme, eligible young aspirants will receive targeted financial support alongside practical training in tailoring techniques. The dual approach is intended to equip participants with the necessary skills while reducing the initial economic barriers to setting up a tailoring venture.

Officials say the programme seeks to preserve Karnataka’s traditional handloom heritage by revitalising the tailoring trade and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
