A major flyover close to the Delhi airport was shut for a short period, causing traffic snarls across South Delhi.
The flyover that links South Delhi to the Indira Gandhi International Airport was temporarily closed, prompting a sudden buildup of vehicles on surrounding roads. Traffic police reported a marked slowdown as commuters attempted to navigate the disrupted corridor.
Motorists faced delays of several minutes, with many vehicles forced to use alternate routes such as the Outer Ring Road and nearby arterial streets. Police personnel were seen directing traffic and urging drivers to avoid the affected stretch.
Authorities have not disclosed the specific reason for the closure or an estimated time for reopening. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider other routes to reach the airport or residential areas in South Delhi.
The temporary shutdown highlights the vulnerability of key infrastructure points in the capital, especially during peak travel periods, and underscores the need for real‑time traffic management.
