A fresh batch of police dogs in Kerala has been launched, featuring a canine linked by family ties to previous service dogs, according to Onmanorama.
Kerala Police has unveiled a new batch of trained canines as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen law‑enforcement capabilities. The cohort, introduced this week, includes a dog that carries a familial connection to an earlier service animal, a detail highlighted in the announcement.
The family link underscores a continuity within the police's canine programme, suggesting that breeding and training practices may favour lineages with proven performance. Officials noted that such background can enhance the dogs' temperament and operational reliability.
Onmanorama reported the development, noting that the story adds a human‑interest angle to the routine rollout of police resources. The new squad is expected to assist in duties ranging from crowd control to narcotics detection across the state.
While the exact number of dogs and their deployment schedule were not disclosed, the police force reiterated its commitment to modernising its investigative tools, with the canine unit playing a pivotal role in future operations.
