Kerala’s Keralam Police have lodged a criminal case alleging that a lender’s letter submitted in the Byju’s insolvency proceedings was forged.
Kerala’s Keralam Police on Tuesday registered a first information report (FIR) accusing a party of submitting a forged lender’s letter in the ongoing insolvency case of edtech giant Byju's.
The alleged falsified document was reportedly used to influence the creditors' committee’s assessment of Byju's repayment capacity. Investigators said the letter, purportedly from a financial institution, contained fabricated signatures and altered terms.
Police officials, who declined to name the suspect, said they have seized the disputed letter and are examining electronic records to trace its origin. The case adds a criminal dimension to the high‑profile insolvency battle that has already drawn scrutiny from regulators and investors across the country.
