The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has declared a yellow alert for nine districts following a forecast of heavy rainfall. Schools and colleges may be closed depending on the severity of the weather.
The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDA) has issued a yellow alert for nine districts after meteorological predictions indicated the likelihood of heavy rainfall in the coming days. The districts affected include Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Malappuram, Thrissur, and Kozhikode.
The yellow alert signals a moderate risk of flooding and landslides, urging residents to stay vigilant and prepare for potential disruptions. Local authorities are monitoring river levels and are ready to deploy relief teams if necessary.
Educational institutions across the state are advised to check official notifications regarding school and college closures. While the decision on holidays will be finalized by district administrations, students and parents should stay updated through local news outlets and official social media channels.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose objects, keep emergency kits ready, and avoid traveling on unpaved roads during the forecasted period. The KSDA has also urged people to report any sudden changes in weather conditions to the nearest helpline.
