The Kerala High Court has cleared toll collection at Nattika on the completed stretch of National Highway 66, allowing the toll plaza to become operational.

The Kerala High Court issued an order permitting the collection of tolls at the Nattika toll plaza on the newly completed segment of National Highway 66. The decision removes the legal hurdle that had delayed the start of toll operations on this coastal stretch in Thrissur district.

The NH‑66 stretch around Nattika was finished earlier this year, but toll collection could not commence due to pending litigation. With the court’s clearance, authorities can now enforce tolls as originally planned.

Revenue generated from the toll is expected to fund routine maintenance and future upgrades of the highway, a key corridor linking Kerala’s northern and southern regions. While commuters may face an additional charge, officials argue that the fee is essential for sustaining road quality.

The ruling aligns with the state’s broader strategy to leverage user‑pay models for infrastructure financing, a move encouraged across India.
