The Kerala state administration has withdrawn a newly issued licence for a bakery to produce 'horti-wine' and has reassigned the excise officer who approved it.
The Kerala state government announced that it has cancelled a licence previously granted to a local bakery for the manufacture and sale of a fermented drink called 'horti-wine'.
The decision follows a review by the excise department, which concluded that the licence had been issued in breach of the rules governing alcoholic beverages.
Alongside the revocation, the excise officer who processed the application has been transferred to a different posting, a move described by officials as part of routine administrative realignment.
