Kerala Cabinet Meets to Seek Clarity on Centre’s PM‑SHRI Scheme Implementation

The Union government has asked states for detailed guidance on implementing the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Raksha Initiative (PM‑SHRI), a scheme aimed at strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure. In response, Kerala’s administration called an emergency cabinet meeting to examine the centre’s queries and align the state’s rollout plan with the requested parameters.
State officials, including the Chief Minister and health department heads, reviewed the current status of PM‑SHRI projects across Kerala, identifying gaps in fund disbursement, staffing and monitoring mechanisms. The discussion focused on how to streamline data reporting, ensure timely utilization of central grants, and address logistical challenges in remote districts.
The cabinet resolved to submit a comprehensive clarification note to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare within the stipulated deadline. It also directed the state health secretariat to prepare a revised implementation roadmap that incorporates the centre’s feedback while safeguarding ongoing health initiatives in the state.
