The moon is expected to rise tonight at the usual time for Karwa Chauth, but cloud cover and rain forecasts could hinder the traditional fast‑breaking rituals.
The astronomical schedule indicates that the moon will become visible tonight, marking the moment when married women observing Karwa Chauth will end their fast. This timing is crucial for the ritual of offering prayers to the moon before breaking the fast.
Meteorological agencies have warned that scattered clouds and intermittent rain are likely across several regions of India this evening. Such conditions could obscure the moon, making it difficult for participants to perform the traditional sighting and prayer.
Religious scholars advise that, should the moon be hidden, women may follow prescribed alternative procedures, such as using a pre‑recorded lunar image or awaiting a clear view the following night. Organisers of community gatherings are also urging participants to stay updated with real‑time weather alerts.
Despite the potential inconvenience, many families are preparing indoor arrangements to ensure the fast can be concluded safely and in accordance with customs. The focus remains on the devotion and well‑being of the women observing the fast.
