The state government announced that all civil services will be moved to a fully online platform under the Sakala initiative to streamline public administrative tasks.

The Karnataka government has decided to shift all civil services to an online platform under the Sakala scheme, aiming to simplify administrative procedures for citizens.

The move will integrate services such as issuing certificates, permits and other public documents onto a single digital portal, eliminating the need for in-person visits.

Officials said the online system will be accessible 24/7, reduce processing times and improve transparency. The Sakala scheme, previously used for specific services, will now encompass the entire range of civil services.

Implementation is expected to roll out in phases, with training for staff and public awareness campaigns. Citizens can submit applications, track status and receive documents electronically.

The decision aligns with the state’s broader digital‑governance agenda and aims to enhance service delivery across Karnataka.
