Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has launched a probe into a suspected fake medicine racket operating in the state. Preliminary findings indicate that the network was supplying counterfeit drugs through various outlets.
During the investigation, authorities traced the alleged kingpin of the network to Azerbaijan, indicating an international link to the operation. This discovery suggests that the racket had cross‑border connections.
As part of the crackdown, a pharmacy owner based in Karnataka was arrested on charges of involvement in the distribution of counterfeit drugs. The suspect is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
