The Karnataka State Election Commission has purged 99.32 lakh entries from the electoral roll, bringing the total number of registered voters to 4.55 crore.
The Karnataka State Election Commission (SEC) announced that it has removed 99.32 lakh names from the state's electoral roll.
The purge was carried out after a comprehensive audit that identified duplicate entries, addresses that no longer exist and voters who had passed away.
With the deletions, the final roll now lists 4.55 crore registered voters, a figure that will be used for the upcoming elections.
The SEC said it will continue to verify the remaining entries and will publish a revised roll in the coming weeks.
The updated list is expected to improve the accuracy of voter registration and reduce the chances of electoral fraud.
