A Deputy Inspector General of Karnataka Prisons has been accused of sexually exploiting a convict’s wife in an attempt to secure the man's release.

A complaint filed by the convict’s wife has brought the allegations against a Deputy Inspector General of Karnataka Prisons to light. She claims that the DIG used his official authority to coerce her into a sexual relationship in exchange for promises that the convict would be released.

The case has raised concerns about possible abuse of power within the Karnataka Prisons Department. Authorities have reportedly launched an inquiry to investigate the claims and determine whether any misconduct occurred.

The convict, whose identity has not been disclosed, was serving a sentence for a serious offence. If the alleged arrangement is proven, it would represent a serious breach of legal and ethical standards.

The DIG has denied the allegations and said he will cooperate fully with the investigation. The matter remains pending in court, and further updates are expected as the inquiry proceeds.
