Police in Karnataka have detained a man suspected of maintaining communication with a terrorist based in Pakistan, according to a report by The Economic Times.
The Karnataka police announced the detention of a resident who is alleged to have been in touch with a terrorist operating from Pakistan. The arrest was made following a probe by the state's crime investigation unit, which flagged the suspect's communications as a potential security breach.
Authorities said the individual had established contact with the foreign extremist, prompting a swift operation to prevent any further collaboration. While specific details of the communication channels have not been disclosed, investigators have linked the suspect to a network that could facilitate cross‑border terror activities.
The man is expected to face charges under India's anti‑terrorism statutes, and the case underscores ongoing concerns about foreign terrorist influence in the region. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious interactions.
